印度過去十年平均經濟成長率達8%，但上會計年度僅繳出5%的成績，創下10年新低。面對QE退場對新興市場所造成的威脅，印度今年的經濟表現恐又將再度令人失望。

法新社13日報導，此前尚不願面對現實的印度總理經濟顧問委員會主席Chakravarthy Rangarajan終於大幅下修2013-14會計年度經濟成長預估，由原先的6.4%調降至5.3%。不過，他仍強調，對照全球經濟環境，如此的經濟成長表現仍相當夠水準。他還認為，信評機構威脅調降印度信評的理由並不充分。

美元兌印度盧比盤中貶值0.53%至63.27，週線貶幅來到3.03%(此例美元貶視同盧比升值)，顯示新任央行總裁拉詹(Raghuram Rajan)上任後，干預盧比貶值手段已初具成效。不過，今年迄今，盧比貶值幅度仍深達14%。Rangarajan建議，央行有必要持續緊縮貨幣政策直到盧比匯價回穩為止。

為避免經常帳赤字進一步攀高，印度政府祭出調高關稅以及限制進口等措施，使得8月份黃金進口額較前月大減七成至6.5億美元；黃金進口量自去年同期的35公噸降至3公噸。今年4月金價大跌時，印度的黃金進口量一度高達142公噸。
